GOING BANANAS
 
A professor at CCNY for a physiological psych class told his class about bananas.  He said the expression "going bananas" is from the effects of bananas on the brain.  Read on:

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and gluco se combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier..

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school (England) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoi d morning sickness.

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Ban anas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking &Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

Cancer Prevention

Here's some very useful and important information about cancer prevention:

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumour size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it need to 
multiply.

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk cancer cells are being starved. Milo, Ovaltine, Horlicks are made with milk and best avoided.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock 
antibiotics, growth hormones, parasites, etc which are all harmful to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits helps put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrefied and leads to more toxic buildup. 


13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Supplements are known to cause cancer cells apoptosis, that is, induce cancer cells to commit.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax, enjoy and trust God for healing.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily and deep breathing 
help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

17. Cancer can be reversed with nutrition, supplements and clinically proven complementary and alternative therapies.

18. Cancer can be healed by divine intervention of God the Healer..... 
SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT INFO:

1. Sugar is a cancer feeder. Avoid sugar. Sugar substitutes like Equal, Spoonful, NutraSweet are made with Aspartame, a chemical that is harmful to the body. A better natural alternative is Manuka honey in small amounts.

2. Milk causes the body to produce mucus. Cancer thrives on mucus. A 
better calcium alternative is unsweetened soya milk.

3. Green tea has anti-cancer properties. It is a better substitute for coffee and tea, which have caffeine, bad for people with cancer.

Drinking Cold water after meal = Cancer!

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. 
It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold 
water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will 
slow down the digestion.

Once this "sludge" reacted with the acid, it will break down and be 
absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the 
intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is 
best to drink hot soup or warm drink after a meal.

EAT FISH!

Eat plenty of fish -- fish oil helps prevent headaches.
So does ginger, which reduces inflammation and pain.

HAY FEVER?
EAT YOGURT!

Eat lots of yogurt before pollen season.
Also-eat honey from your area (local region) daily.

DRINK TEA!

Prevent buildup of fatty deposits on artery walls with regular doses of tea. (actually, tea suppresses my appetite and keeps the pounds from invading....Green tea is great for our immune system)!

DRINK CRANBERRY JUICE!!!!

High-acid cranberry juice controls harmful bacteria.

Orange:
Sweetest medicine. Taking 2 - 4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessen the risk of colon cancer.

Watermelon:
Coolest Thirst Quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione which helps boost our immune system.  They are also a key source of lycopene - the cancer fighting oxidant.  Other nutrients found in watermelon are Vitamin C & Potassium. GallStones Removal (6-day treatment) - by Dr Lai Chiu-Nan

One of the symptoms of gallstones is a feeling of bloatness after a heavy meal. You feel like you can't digest the food. If it gets more serious, you feel pain in the liver area. The  treatment is also good for those with a weak liver, because the liver and gallbladder are closely linked.

Regimen:
1. For the first five days, take four glasses of apple juice every day. Or eat four or five apples, whichever you prefer. Apple juice softens the gallstones. During the five days, eat normally. 
2. On the sixth day, take no dinner.
3. At 6 PM, take a teaspoon of Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) with a glass of warm water.
4. At 8 PM, repeat the same. Magnesium sulphate opens the gallbladder ducts.
5. At 10 PM, take half cup olive oil (or sesame oil) with half cup fresh lemon juice. Mix it well and drink it. The oil lubricates the stones to ease their passage. 

The next morning, you will find green stones in your stools. "Usually they float," Chiu Nan notes. You might want to count them. I have had people who passes 40, 50 or up to 100 stones.  Even if you don't have any symptoms of gallstones, you still might have some. It's always good to give your gall bladder a clean-up now and then.

Rat's Dropping:
A stock clerk was sent to clean up a storeroom in Maui, Hawaii.

When he got back, he was complaining that the storeroom was really filthy and that he had noticed dried mouse/rat droppings in some areas.
A couple of days later, he started to feel like he was coming down with a stomach flu, complained of sore joints and headaches, and began to vomit. 

He went to bed and never really got up again. Within two days he was severely ill and weak. His blood sugar count was down to 66, and his face and eyeballs were ye! llow. He was rushed to the emergency at Pali-Momi, where he was diagnosed to be suffering from massive organ failure. He died shortly before midnight. 
No one would have made the connection between his job and his death, had it not been for a doctor who specifically asked if he had been in a warehouse or exposed to dried rat/mouse droppings at any time. They said there is a virus (much like the Hanta virus) that lives in dried rat and mouse droppings. 

Once dried, these droppings are like dust and can easily be breathed in or ingested if a person does not wear protective gear or fails to wash face and hands thoroughly . 

An autopsy was performed on the clerk to verify the doctor's suspicions.

This is why it is extremely important to ALWAYS carefully rinse off the tops of canned sodas or foods, and to wipe off pasta packaging, cereal boxes, and so on. 

Almost everything you buy in a supermarket was stored in a warehouse at one time or another, and stores themselves often have rodents. 

Most of us remember to wash vegetables and fruits but never think of boxes and cans.

The ugly truth is, even the most modern, upper-class, super store has rats and mice. And their warehouse most assuredly does!

Whenever you buy any canned soft drink, please make sure that you wash the top with running water and soap or, if that is not available, drink with a straw. 

The investigation of soda cans by the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta discovered that the tops of soda cans can be encrusted with dried rat's urine, which is so toxic it can be lethal. Canned drinks and other foodstuffs are stored in warehouses and containers that are usually infested with rodents, and then they get transported to retail outlets without being properly cleaned.

人的壽命100175

我去年從美國回來,之前在史丹福大學待了六年。我要介紹很多東西,最近北京是普查完了,我們北京市得了兩個冠軍,一個是高血壓冠軍;一個是高血脂冠軍,很遺憾。市委非常重視,有文件下達了,要求各單位多聽最新保健知識,我就是奔著這個目的來的。

現在,死亡率最高的是3050歲的人。大家知道國際上有個標準,壽命應該是100175歲。為什麼都沒達到呢?最主要一個原因是不重視保健,而且不聽保健。

這個問題在國內已非常嚴重,特別是領導幹部。國家保健局一再強調,每個人都要重視保健。

現在絕大多數是病死的,很少是老死的。應該絕大多數是老死而少數是病死,這個極端反常的現象要求我們儘快糾正。

人人要重視保健

最近聯合國表揚我們的鄰國日本,為什麼表揚日本,因為他們的壽命是世界冠軍。他們女性的平均壽命是87.6歲,我們國家50年代是35歲,60 年代的57歲,現在是67.88歲,距離日本整整差20歲,這是無法原諒的。日本的先進經驗是以社區為單位,每一個月講一次保健課,如果沒有來聽就必須補課。如果沒有這個制度,誰愛聽就聽,不聽拉倒。我回國後問了許多人,應該活多久呢?有人告訴我五六十歲就差不多了,這說明我們的標準太低了。他們大部份人根本不知道保健,湊合活著,問題很嚴重。我在醫院工作了40年,絕大部份人病死是很痛苦的。我來的目的很明確,我受科學院委託,受命於衛生部的指示,希望每個人都重視保健工作。

張少帥蔣夫人活得久

聯合國提出一個口號:『千萬不要死於無知』,很多人死於無知,這很冤枉呀。我們知識分子平均年齡58.5歲,按這個數位,我想不算學前教育,小學六年,中學六年,醫科大學八年、碩士三年、博士三年、博士後三年,都學完後到點了,根本不能幹什麼了。很多科學家沒超過這個年齡。

我在美國史丹福見到的張學良將軍,在紐約參加了他的100歲壽辰。

我很受感動,一進門見到他我們大吃一驚,他眼不花,耳不聾,很多人問他:少帥您怎麼活這麼久?他回答很明確『不是我活得久呀,而是他們活得太短了』這句話的意思是,你活得短,還嫌我活得長,這情景我一直到現在還記得很清楚。而我們很多人很糊塗,因為我們天天處在不健康狀態,亞健康狀態。

我見過很多人,我在長島見過宋美齡,他們都活得很長,都是100多歲。他們能活我們為什麼不能活,我就很奇怪,我們很多人湊合活著,這種思想危害極大。

大家知道怎麼保健嗎?其實國際上在維多利亞開會有個宣言,這個宣言有三個里程碑,第一個叫平衡飲食、第二個叫有氧有氧運動、第三個叫心理狀態。這三個里程國際上都知道,而我們很多人不清楚。

這三個里程碑的標題不會改變,而內容會隨時改變。地球人的平均壽命70多歲,我門是67.88歲,沒有達到平均壽命。而有很多人已經創造記錄了,據我所知,英國有個叫霍曼卡門今年已經209歲了,經歷了12個王朝,如果不相信,我可以告訴你電話號碼。還有個羅馬尼亞老太太,今年104歲,更奇怪的是他90歲時生了個胖娃娃。人家能活,我們湊合活著,你能湊合得了嗎?

早起早睡不能激烈運動

一、       平衡飲食:下面我講一個問題,平衡飲食。也許有人早就認為保健有什麼好聽的,還不是早起早睡身體好,我告訴你,唐朝時可以這麼說,現在這麼說就是極端無知了,很多事情都在變化。所講平衡飲食有飲、食二大類。

先說飲食的第一個問題,『飲』的問題:我在北大時問學生,什麼飲料最好?學生異口同聲回答:『可口可樂』。可口可樂美國都不承認,國際上也不承認,它只能解渴,沒有任何保健作用。

國際公定六種保健品

什麼叫保健品,大家要知道,它得要能治療疾病的,到現在我們中國人絕大部份都不知道什麼叫保健品。

國際會議上定出了6種保健品﹕第一、綠茶。第二、紅葡萄酒。第三、豆漿。第四、酸奶。人家不提牛奶,您注意啦。第五、骨頭湯。第六、蘑菇湯。為什麼提蘑菇湯?因為蘑菇能提高免疫功能。一個辦公室有人老是感冒,有人老是不得病,什麼原因?這是免疫功能不一樣。

蘑菇湯能提高免疫力,所以是保健品。那為什麼提骨頭湯呢?骨頭湯裏含琬膠,琬膠是延年益壽的,所以現在世界各國都有骨頭湯街,而中國沒有。我們調查了一下,最近蘇州、南京城裡有了,北京還是沒有。所以不要小看骨頭湯,它能延年益壽,因為有琬膠。為什麼提酸奶?因為酸奶是維持細菌平衡的。

喝酸奶消滅害菌

所謂維持細菌平衡是指有益的細菌生長,有害的細菌消滅,所以吃酸奶可以少得病的。在歐洲酸奶非常廣泛,我們許多女孩喜歡吃酸,但是她們不了解為什麼。我們很奇怪,中國酸奶銷量是很低的,而牛奶銷量很大。牛奶本身我們不否定它的作用,但跟酸奶比起來差得很遠。還有豆漿,後面再說。

喝綠茶就能抗癌

我下面講為什麼喝綠茶;現在很多人喝綠茶,但年輕人不喝。很多人喝紅茶。紅茶加麵包在歐洲流行過,但現在不喝了。大家知道,紅茶加麵包沒有一點保健作用。綠茶為什麼有保健作用呢?原來綠茶裏面含有茶坨酚,而茶坨酚是抗癌的。還有人喝茉莉花茶,我問他為什麼喝茉莉花茶?他的答覆很簡單:『它很香』我說你要是為了香,我建議你喝香油。我們不是為了香,而是怕得癌症。日本普查搞得特別好,他們普查完了說40歲以上的人沒有一個體內沒有癌細胞的,為什麼有人得癌症,有人不得,就是跟綠茶有關係。

如果你每天喝4杯綠茶,癌細胞就不分裂,而且即使分裂也要推遲9年以上。

所以在日本小學生每天一上學就喝一杯綠茶,咱們沒有。我給老師講,老師都不知道,我們的下一代有問題啊。綠茶裏含茶坨酚,它是抗癌的,在所有的飲料裏綠茶是第一的。我今天來晚了,很多人已經把茉莉花茶喝得差不多了。趕快改,茉莉花茶沒有一點保健作用,只是香而已。

茶漱口堅固牙齒

 第二請注意,綠茶裏含有氟。古代曹雪芹寫紅樓夢時說府的人吃完飯拿茶漱口,而蘇東坡也有記載,他每次吃完飯拿中下等茶漱口,目的是堅固牙齒,他不知道是氟的作用,日本人現在搞清楚了,它不僅能堅固牙齒,還能消滅蛀牙,消滅菌斑。

飯後3分鐘,牙齒的菌斑就要出現。現在我們很多人牙齒不好,不但不拿茶水漱口,連白水都不漱,問題在哪裡不知道。現在有人30歲就開始掉牙,50歲牙就全掉了。醫院牙科最忙,牙科裡鑲牙室最忙。

我們到歐洲一看,人人牙齒都很好。你想,如果牙齒好,你當然長壽啦。我們很多人忽略了,其實你不費事,你拿茶水漱口就把菌斑消滅了,而且堅固牙齒。到了老年,你牙齒堅固,不會得蛀牙。這是很小的一件事,應該堅持做下去。

喝綠茶固血管抗癌

第三個,綠茶本身含茶甘甯,茶甘寧是提高血管韌性的,使血管不容易破裂。很多人因為腦血管意外來北京治療,醫院每死4個人就有1個是腦出血。這很危險。腦出血沒有方法治療,就怕生氣。一生氣,一拍桌子一瞪眼,腦血管崩了。

這個我見得太多了,那天他們開玩笑說梅蘭芳被兒子氣死了,我說他沒喝綠茶,要是有喝茶就不至於死。我現在改變了,早上就喝上綠茶。為什麼,我怕我兒子氣我。各位,你們這歲數早點喝吧,到時候你拍幾下桌子瞪幾下眼都不怕。綠茶第一抗癌,第二能堅固牙齒,第三腦血管不易破裂,幹嘛不喝呀。

紅葡萄酒抗衰降壓

飲料中第二個是紅葡萄酒。為什麼提起紅葡萄酒,很多中國人不知道,歐洲早就知道了,他們每天男女老少都喝一點紅葡萄酒,什麼原因呢?原來紅葡萄的皮上有種東西,叫做『逆轉醇』的,這逆轉醇什麼的你們不知道,它整個是抗衰老的,一說到抗衰老人們就愛喝了。它還是抗氧化劑,常喝紅葡萄酒的不得心臟病。第二,它可以幫助防止心臟的突然停搏,我們叫猝停。大家知道,什麼情況下心臟可以停搏,第一是原來有心臟病的,第二是有高血壓的,第三是跟食物有關係。什麼食物呢?過大、過硬、過粘、過熱的食物可以使心臟停搏,血脂肪高可以使心臟停搏。前幾天道師範大學會診,三十五歲的一個博士,早晨還活蹦亂跳的,中午就沒了,為什麼?血脂肪太高了。

吃硬、粘、熱要注意

現在我把北京市普查結果告訴大家,在職幹部每兩個人就有一個血脂高,二分之一。血脂高的危險在哪裡呢?心臟會突然停搏。有一個20歲的小夥子,他抽出來的血是泥狀的,非常危險。我們問他,他說吃得太好了。不是你吃得太好,而是吃得太不合理了。我們有個病例,一個人在街上買了個大年糕,又硬、又粘、又熱,跑回家一進門就讓老太太快點吃,別涼了,老太太剛吃幾口就咽氣了。他背著老太太往醫院跑,到醫院我們問他怎麼回事,他說剛才給老太太吃年糕。這不屬於無知是什麼!沒搶救過來。老太太在家待得好好的,沒事吃什麼年糕呀,吃完年糕心臟停搏了。現在國際上一再強調,過大、過硬、過粘、過熱就會使心臟停止。

紅葡萄連皮吃有益

紅葡萄酒還有個作用是能降血壓、降低血脂。紅葡萄酒有以上幾大作用,所以在國外賣得很好。我不是來推銷紅葡萄酒,我是來傳達國際會議精神的。很多人提出來,不是不讓人喝酒嗎?世界衛生組織說的是『戒煙限酒』沒有說不讓人喝酒,而且酒的限量也說了﹕紅葡萄酒每天不超過50100毫升,白酒每天不超過510毫升,啤酒每天不超過300毫升,如果你超過這個量是錯誤的,不超過這個量是很好的。有的女同志提出來:我不會喝酒怎麼辦?妳不會喝酒,難道不會吃葡萄嗎?「吃葡萄不吐葡萄皮」是相聲裡說的一句話,但是我告訴你,白葡萄沒有逆轉醇,所以你不聽課就不會買葡萄。白葡萄酒沒有逆轉醇,你是白吃了。現在歐洲已經出現紅葡萄糕點了,我實驗過,把紅葡萄洗乾淨吃,一咽皮很舒服的,沒事。所以有錢的喝紅葡萄酒,沒有錢的吃葡萄皮一樣保健。

早上不適宜激烈運動

還有人跟我抬槓:我沒錢怎麼辦?我告訴大家,國際會議上已經調查完了,全世界的長壽地區都在無錢地區,第一是巴基斯坦埃爾汗,第二是蘇聯的亞塞爾拜然,還有厄瓜多爾的拉卡汗,這些都是無錢地區。你說奇怪不奇怪?有錢的天天泡在宴席裏,雞鴨魚肉,上下一般粗,將軍肚。我調查了,這樣的人極少活過65歲的。關於早上鍛鍊的問題,在中國很多人就不清楚。我從國外回來,看到很多老頭、老太太早上五、六點背著寶劍就出來了。到了晚上,中國老頭、老太太都看不到了,都在家裡看電視呢。

為什麼兩個國家差別這麼大?這是他們不明白,不能埋怨老人,沒有人跟他們講。早上鍛煉很危險,早上起來,人的生物鐘規律是體溫高、血壓高,而且腎上腺素比晚上高出4倍,如果你激烈運動,就很容易出事,容易出現心臟停止。

死於無知害了自己

九十八年開展長跑運動,北京市有據可查的已經跑死四個老頭了,如果再跑就壞了。有的黨委組織老頭老太太爬香山,而且一清早就去,上鬼見愁,說道:『誰爬得快誰長壽。』這不知道是誰的主意,我現在也弄不明白。我告訴大家,如果這樣下去的話要犯錯誤,因為從領導開始就不了解保健。千萬不要組織這種活動,這是醫學上最忌諱的。我們不反對早上散步、做體操、打太極拳、練氣功,這些都是無可非議的。但是如果中老年人早上激烈運動,搞長跑、爬香山,有百害無一利,而且死亡率是很高的。您不長跑、不爬山可能死不了,這叫做死於無知,結果是自己害了自己。

蔬菜水果保健康

人體需要弱鹼。什麼是弱鹼?蔬菜、水果。凡是發達國家,或健康國家都是蔬菜、水果消耗最大。你不會保健,就會點肉。有人開玩笑,這些貪污犯不用槍斃,吃就把他吃死了,我看一點也不誇大。還有人跟我抬槓說:我還沒解溫飽怎麼辦?沒解決溫飽,你餓死了跟我有什麼關係!大家都知道錢和權都重要,有人跟我提到『有權才成』我們都知道,最有權的是中國皇帝,遠的不說,就說清朝,有十三個皇帝,同治十九歲死的,順治二十三歲、咸豐三十一歲,光緒三十八歲,但有個乾隆活了八十九歲,他特別會保健,皇帝裏他是冠軍。我們查了他的檔案,第一他特別好運動,第二他吃蒸發糕,粗細糧搭配,第三這人好旅遊,最有名的,就是三下江南所以他活了八十九歲。

榖、豆、菜營養好

我們調查了818個和尚,32﹪以上的和尚有90歲以上,最小的一個65歲。和尚有什麼權?飲食值得我們注意了!所以,錢、權都不是主要的,主要是保健。如果你不會保健,有錢有權都沒有保障,所以聯合國才說,千萬不要死於無知。

再說飲食的第二個問題,『食』的問題。大家知道,亞洲金字塔最好。什麼叫金字塔?榖類、豆類、菜類。這榖、豆類、菜非常好,在舊金山開會時好多外國醫生提出來說:不對呀,中國人已經不吃榖、豆、菜了,已經吃起我們的漢堡來了。我回國後去了一趟麥當勞。我很佩服麥當勞,人家一年拿走我們20多億,人家很會做生意。據我掌握的情況,人家為什麼叫它垃圾食品,後果是上下一般粗,跟行李捲一樣。

人家不吃,因為吃了還要去減肥。咱們不知道,天天麥當勞,尤其是第二代簡直沒有麥當勞就活不了。我們應該知道它是偏激食品,不符合我們的飲食習慣。

吃老玉米強身長壽

『榖』,人家在國際會議上不提大米、白麵,也不提麥當勞。榖類,第一提的是老玉米,說是『黃金作物』老玉米的來歷,美國醫學做了普查,發現原始的美國人、印地安人沒有一個高血壓,沒有一個動脈硬化,原來是吃老玉米來的。後來發現老玉米裏含有大量的卵磷脂、亞油酸、穀物醇、維他命E,所以不會發生高血壓和動脈硬化。

從此以後,美國就改了,美洲、非洲、歐洲、日本、香港、中國廣州,早上都吃玉米羹了。現在許多人吃卵磷脂幹嘛?就是希望不得動脈硬化。但是他不知道吃老玉米裡含得最多,不用多花錢。我在美國調查了一下,一個老玉米二點五美元,而在中國一個老玉米一塊錢,相差十六倍。

但是我們很多人不知道,也不吃。這次普查以後,我馬上改正了,在美國我堅持六年了,每天喝玉米粥。我今年70多歲了,體力充沛、精神飽滿,嗓音宏亮、中氣十足,而且臉上沒有皺紋。什麼原因?喝玉米粥喝的,信不信由你。你喝你的牛奶我喝我的玉米粥,咱們看誰活得長。

蕎麥、薯類降壓消毒

『榖』的第二是蕎麥。為什麼提蕎麥?現在人都『三高』,即高血壓、高血脂、高血糖。蕎麥是『三降』它降高血壓、降高血脂、高血糖。我問北大學生,什麼叫蕎麥?說不知道?就知道漢堡。蕎麥裏含有18%的纖維素,吃蕎麥的人不得胃腸道癌症,腸癌、結腸癌都不得。我們坐辦公室的人,得病有20%是直腸癌、結腸癌。『穀』的第三是薯類,白薯、紅薯、山藥、馬鈴薯,這類東西是在國際會議上提出來的。為什麼?原來它『三吸收』;吸收水份,吸收脂肪、糖類,吸收毒素。吸收水份,潤滑腸道,不得直腸癌、結腸癌。吸收脂肪、糖類,不得糖尿病。吸收毒素,不發生胃腸道癌症。,美國吃薯類是把它做成各種糕點,有不少吃的。希望大家多吃薯類,主食中搭配薯類。『穀』裏面還有燕麥,國外早就知道,中國很多人不知道。你要是血壓高,一定要吃燕麥,燕麥粥、燕麥片。它能降血脂、降血壓。能降甘油三脂,使你的血脂降下來。

小米粥健脾又催眠

『穀』最後一個是小米!我們是小米加步槍打勝仗的啊!我回國後就問:「為什麼咱們不吃小米了呢?」很多人跟我說什麼「那玩意不是坐月子吃的嗎?」妳說糟不糟糕。實際上本草綱目已經說明白了,小米能除濕、健脾、鎮靜、安眠,有這麼大好處你不吃!現在很多坐辦公室的人睡不著覺,得憂鬱症,神經官能症,吃安眠藥兩片、四片、六片,已經有人吃到八片還是睡不著。我勸大家別吃了,優良的有名的醫學教授吃了安眠藥以後,頭腦昏昏沉沉撞到暖氣包上了。所以北京日報頭版登出來「安眠藥不一定安眠」別吃了。

我在農村普查過,那些老頭、老太太們不知道什麼叫失眠,躺在床上就呼呼睡著。我仔細觀察了,人家是喝小米粥喝的。所以現在我已經改了,早上一晚玉米粥,精神煥發,晚上一晚小米粥,呼呼大睡,你說多好呀!

食療絕對重於藥醫

你要明白,食療重於藥療,這是李時珍說的,所有李時珍寫的本草綱目全部都是食物。我們為什麼不拿食物解決問題,非得吃藥!十藥九毒,沒聽說拿藥能保健的,秦始皇沒辦到,漢武帝沒辦到,你也辦不到。但是我要聲明:我不反對吃藥,反對吃藥的是法輪功的李洪志。我反對亂吃藥,我主張吃藥『短、平、快』。短時間吃藥,吃平安藥,快速停藥。

大豆有五種抗癌物質

下面講「榖、豆、菜」中的「豆」我們普查結果出來是整個中國百姓缺乏優質蛋白,所以我們小球老勝、大球就不勝。為什麼?球場上一踢一撞就一跟頭。我們現在的醫費比美國高10倍,但我們的身體不如人家。中國人的優質蛋白不夠怎麼辦?現在衛生部已經提出來「大豆行動計劃」內容是「一把蔬菜一把豆,一個雞蛋加點肉」我講了之後北大學生就說成了「半斤雞蛋二兩肉,加點蔬菜加點肉」,他說你講的沒有量,我給你加點量。誰讓你加量的!一個雞蛋300毫克的膽固醇正合適,為什麼吃半斤,還編出了二兩肉?沒有這個。一兩大豆的蛋白等於二兩瘦肉,等於三兩雞蛋,等於四兩大米,你說應該吃什麼好?現在國際上都知道的。美國已在每年的815日定為全國的「豆腐節」,我們沒有豆腐節。他們不乏優質蛋白,他們認為大豆是營養之花,豆中之王。大豆中起碼有五種抗癌物質,特別是飴黃酮,他能預防、治療乳腺癌,但只有大豆中才有。

豆漿含飴黃酮治癌

我們北京和天津隔得這麼近,北京的乳腺癌特別多,而天津很少。你們知道為什麼?天津的早點是豆漿、豆腐腦。北京的早點問題不少,現在北京要研究早點了。北京高血壓、高血脂症這麼多,早點五花八門,但很不科學。牛奶好還是豆漿好?聯合國國際會議上說,牛奶含的是乳醣,而全世界有三分之二的人不吸收乳醣。在亞洲黃種人中有70﹪不吸收乳醣,我們是黃種人。友人牛奶是喝了但並沒有吸收多少,對牛奶吸收量最大的是白種人,北京市調查的結果是40﹪的人不吸收乳醣。全國普查的結果,吸收最好的是廣東。

豆漿有什麼優點?豆漿裡含有寡糖,它100﹪地吸收。而且,豆漿裡面還有鉀、鈣、鎂等,鈣比牛奶含量多。牛奶裡沒有抗癌物質,而豆漿有五種抗癌物質。其中特別是飴黃酮專門預防、治療乳腺癌、直腸癌、結腸癌。所以對我們黃種人來說最合適的是豆漿。我不反對大家喝牛奶,但是為了防癌一定要喝點豆漿。有人停牛奶改喝豆漿了,這方法也不一定好。牛奶可以接著喝,適當加點豆漿。

胡蘿蔔、養顏美容

下面談「榖、豆、菜」中的「菜」國際會議上第一個提到的菜是胡蘿蔔。為什麼提胡蘿蔔?我國本草綱目裡寫的是養眼蔬菜。晚上看不到東西,特別是夜盲症,吃了就好。它保護黏膜的,長期吃胡蘿蔔不容易得感冒。美國人認為胡蘿蔔是美容菜,養頭髮、養皮膚、養黏膜,常吃胡蘿蔔的人確實從裡往外美容。

這美容概念應該是內外和諧,我們好多女孩子上了當,他抹了化妝品還好看點,一卸妝比原來難看。美國很注重這個,他們老吃胡蘿蔔。在烏魯木齊他們請我吃餃子,是胡蘿蔔餡的,他們起名叫俄羅斯餃子,我吃完後覺得很好。

第一、它養黏膜,不容易感冒;第二、它健美;第三、它有點抗癌作用,而且對眼睛特別好,歐洲已經有胡蘿蔔糕點了。胡蘿蔔還不怕高溫,多高溫度營養也不受到損失。

南瓜苦瓜蕃茄都防癌

「菜」中第二提的是南瓜。為什麼提南瓜呢?它刺激維生素細胞,產生胰島素。所以常吃南瓜的人不得糖尿病。菜中應該提的還有苦瓜,它雖然苦,但分泌胰島素物質,常吃苦瓜的人也不得糖尿病。南瓜、苦瓜,我們這個年齡的人一定要常吃。

國際會議上還提到蕃茄,就是蕃茄。在美國,幾乎每個家庭都種蕃茄、吃蕃茄,目的是不得癌症。這是剛剛五、六年前才知道的。吃蕃茄不得癌症,你知道嗎?不得子宮癌、卵巢癌、胰腺癌、膀胱癌、攝護腺癌。

但是這蕃茄不是隨便吃的,我問大家,蕃茄怎麼吃?有人說:那還不簡單,洗一洗就生吃還有人切片放白糖,再喝點啤酒。如果是這麼吃的,我告訴,你白吃了!不抗癌。蕃茄裡面有個東西叫蕃茄素,它和蛋白質結合在一塊,周圍有纖維素包裹著,很難出來。所以必須加溫,加溫到一定程度才出來。我告訴大家,蕃茄炒雞蛋最值錢了。還有蕃茄湯或蕃茄雞蛋湯也是好的。生吃蕃茄不抗癌,請大家注意。

吃大蒜放十五分鐘抗癌

還有大蒜,大蒜是抗癌之王。我剛一說大蒜怎麼吃,就有人說:那玩意加溫吃。你什麼都加溫?我告訴大家,大蒜加溫等於零!山東人、東北人最愛吃,一瓣一瓣的吃,還說吃大蒜不得癌症,但沒幾天他先得了癌症了。什麼原因呢?現在世界上都知道怎麼吃大蒜,只有我們不知道。告訴大家,原來是必須把它切成片,一片一片的放在空氣裡十五分鐘,它跟氧氣結合以後產生大蒜素。大蒜本身不抗癌,大蒜素才抗癌,而且是抗癌之王。那天我看到一人吃大蒜,他拿來一碗蒜,一瓣一瓣地吃,還不到五秒鐘就吃進去了,連五秒鐘都沒有,這大蒜有什麼用啊?

一點也沒有。如果不按照我的方法,那就是白吃了。大蒜有味道不用怕,吃點山楂,嚼點花生米,在吃點茶葉就沒味了。國外每一個禮拜都吃的,我們為什麼不吃呀!

吃黑木耳使血液不黏稠

下面講黑木耳,黑木耳有什麼作用?現在一到過年時心肌梗塞一個挨一個,年齡越來越小,已經到30歲了。

為什麼過年時多?兩個原因,一個是高凝體血稠,就是脂肪高。是大家記住,血稠的人叫高凝體質。高凝體質的人加上高凝食物,所以過年時心肌梗塞的人特別多,年齡不限。心肌梗塞雖然無法治療,但是完全可以預防。有的大夫告訴你吃阿斯匹靈,為什麼可以使血不黏稠不得心肌梗塞。但後果是什麼,吃阿斯匹靈的後果是眼底出血,現在很多人眼底出血我勸大家不要吃阿斯匹靈了。現在歐洲已經不吃阿斯匹靈了,吃什麼?吃黑木耳。

黑木耳有兩個作用,其中一個是使血液不黏稠。黑木耳的作用是美國心臟專家發現的,他得了諾貝爾獎。他發現以後,所有歐洲人,有錢有地位的人都吃黑木耳,而不吃阿斯匹靈了。什麼樣的人是高凝體質?答案是矮、粗、胖的人,特別是更年期的女同胞,而且血型AB型的人更容易高凝血脂。第一、過年時不要胡吃猛塞;第二、多喝一些茶,活血化瘀;第三、千萬不要生氣,醫生氣血就稠。

老人不要吃花生米

喝白酒也容易血稠,要喝就喝紅葡萄酒,不要超過100毫升。如果給你吃花生米千萬不要吃,實在要吃把皮剝了吃。你看咱們中國的花生米,五香花生米,炒花生米,炸花生米全部都帶皮。你到歐洲去看看,所有花生米沒有帶皮的,人家知道不要吃皮。有人說:這皮不是有營養嗎?誰說的,我告訴大家,花生皮沒有營養,它只能治血凝片,提高血小板,止血用的,我們中老年人千萬不要吃了。還有看電視要注意,好電視就看會兒,不好的電視不看。為什麼?長時間坐在那兒,血凝度會升高。我特別擔心的是什麼?他本來短粗胖,沒脖子,還在更年期,又是AB型,胡吃猛塞,然後一生氣,又喝白酒,完了花生米不剝皮,他要不得心肌梗塞,我這大夫不當了。

花粉癒頻尿治便秘

下面談談花粉。雷根總統曾經一次被槍傷,還得了一次惡性腫瘤,他那麼大歲數,現在還活著,只是得了老年癡呆症,是花粉在他身上起了很大的作用。現在歐洲美洲都流行起花粉來了,我回國後一查歷史,原來我們很早就有。武則天就吃花粉,慈禧太后也吃花粉。

大家知道,花粉是植物的精子,它孕育著生命,在植物裡是最好的東西。,但我們忽略了它。大家不要在街上買花粉。街上賣的花粉有硬殼,沒有破壁,破壁要有高科技處理。第二,花粉是野生的,容易污染,要消毒。第三,它是蛋白質,必須脫敏,花粉必須具備這三條才能用:處理、消毒、脫敏。花粉在日本用得最厲害,不管多大年紀的人都用它美容。

吃花粉癒頻尿治便秘

法國模特兒沒一人不用它,有一回我一個月時間每天晚上起夜三次,我一看不好,就吃花粉,一個月就恢復正常了。文獻記載,花粉治癒率九十七﹪。如用花粉治不好,藥也解決不了,最後腎功能衰竭。還有一個胃腸道紊亂,女同胞多,習慣性便秘,很多人吃瀉藥而很容易得直腸癌、結腸癌。花粉有個名字叫腸道警察,吃了花粉以後,警察可以維持腸道秩序。第三它健美,維持體型。花粉的三大作用不可忽略。植物問題就談這麼多。

雞、魚、蝦營養高

下面談談動物問題。廣播電台說吃四條腿的不如吃兩條腿的,而吃兩條腿的不如吃多條腿的。這個概念在歐洲不一樣,你如果參加宴會,要注意,假如有牛肉,又有豬肉,應該吃豬肉。牛肉的問題太多,第一有瘋牛症,第二有口蹄疫,第三有不良膽固醇。現在美國有三萬婦女得了淋巴腫瘤,吃漢堡吃出來的。所以他們爭論很大,已經殺了幾萬頭牛,我們應該慎重吃。如果有豬肉又有羊肉,吃羊肉;有羊肉又有雞肉,吃雞肉;有雞有魚,吃魚;有魚有蝦,那吃蝦呀。這不是客氣,動物越小蛋白越好。樸素的大眾營養學就看動物大小,拿來分子式誰也看不懂。我還沒說老鼠呢。

吃小魚小蝦會長壽

國際會議上說跳蚤的蛋白最好,跳蚤別看它那麼小,牠可以跳一米多高,你信不信。如果把牠放大到人體那麼大,牠可以跳到月球上去,所以有幾個美國醫生在琢磨怎麼吃跳蚤呢。現在聯合國WHO建議大家多吃點雞和魚,那位時麼不提蝦呢?不是不提,而是蝦太貴了,不容易普及。如果有蝦,還是吃蝦好。我現在掌握這麼個原則:要是蝦來了我就吃兩口蝦,這兩口比你一肚子牛肉的蛋白都要多。魚容易普及,魚肉蛋白1個小時就能吸收,吸收率為一00﹪,而牛肉蛋白3小時才吸收。魚對老年人尤其是身體虛弱的人特別合適,當然蝦比魚還好。國際上調查了,全世界最有名的長壽地區在日本,日本的長壽地區在海邊,而海邊壽命最長的是吃魚的地方。特別要吃小魚、小蝦,特別要吃全魚(連頭帶尾)因為有活性物質,而且活性物質在小魚、小蝦的頭部和腹部。看你會不會買魚,要買就買小魚小蝦,而且吃全魚全蝦,這有大學問,不是買魚月大越好。

身體要好就吃七分飽

還有個吃的原則,吃東西要掌握量,不是越多越好。國際上有規定的,要吃七分飽,一輩子不得胃病,吃八分飽最多了,若吃十成飽,那二成沒有用,是廢物。所以國際上建議大家0.618黃金分割;副食6主食4,粗糧6細糧4;植物6動物4。現在人類吃的動物太多,而且呈現粗細糧不平衡。我的一個病人吃了6個大包子,二十歲得了胃擴張,診斷結果一是等死,二是胃切除,結果切除大半個胃,老年人特別要旨吃七成飽。

常吃海藻健康長壽

物質平衡有個規律,我簡單介紹一下。初生到5個月嬰兒吃母乳最好。超過5個月母乳也不行了,需要四十二種以上的食品。人到老年就更難了,幸虧有法國一個醫生叫科里門特,他到非洲去旅遊時看到非洲大澤湖地人比我們健康長壽。他們吃什麼?吃海藻,把它曬乾了包包子吃,然後喝海藻湯。醫生拿到巴黎一實驗,原來是海藻,而且是螺旋狀的,起名叫螺旋藻。這螺旋藻是一九六二年發現的,這一發現轟動了全世界。為什麼?

它一克等於一000克各種蔬菜的綜合。當時只有皇帝皇后、奧林匹亞冠軍吃,別人吃不著。很多年後發現這東西特別好,營養特別豐富,最全面,營養分布最平衡,而且是鹼性食品。

螺旋藻戰勝糖尿病

我告訴大家,日本為什麼是長壽世界冠軍,他們一年消耗五00噸螺旋藻,他們到中國旅遊每人都帶它。我們問他們,為什麼帶螺旋藻?他們說,8克螺旋藻就可以維持生命四十天。現在的太空食品,沒有帶包子大餅的,全都是螺旋藻。螺旋藻在世界上很馳名了,所以你如果營養不好,別忘了這東西,它能平衡飲食的。它對幾個病特別重要,第一是心腦血管病,它能降血壓、降血脂;第二是糖尿病,這病是缺少蛋白、維生素,很難治癒,螺旋藻能補充維生素,而且螺旋藻的最大優點是使糖尿病人不得合併症,能跟正常人飲食一樣。

糖尿病人缺少能量,又不能吃糖,螺旋藻是幹糖,攝入幹糖後就有能量了。糖尿病人血糖不穩定,用螺旋藻後就有能量了。糖尿病人血糖不穩定,用螺旋藻後可以逐漸停藥,然後逐漸停螺旋藻,最後拿飲食控制。歐洲已經完全戰勝糖尿病,我們也是完全可以的,但必須配合治療。

第三是胃炎、胃潰瘍,螺旋藻有葉綠素,胃黏膜有恢復作用。

電腦工作要吃螺旋藻

第四是肝炎,國際上沒有肝炎,為什麼?人家分餐了。上海醫學院做了調查,家裡有一個人轉胺酉每高,其他人轉胺酉每也高。我們拿筷子捅在一個碗裡,所以呼籲每個家庭要注意,最好分餐。注意,很多人看起來是健康的,你看不出他是個帶菌者。螺旋藻能使病毒不複製,而且大量氨基酸能使肝細胞恢復。它有膽鹼,能使肝功能恢復,提高免疫功能。螺旋藻還有防輻射作用,蘇聯核電站爆炸時,日本專家去搶救,拿的就是螺旋藻,它抗輻射作用很強。現在很多女性做IE工作在電腦前工作的懷孕女子有的4個月後流產,有的生出來的嬰兒像青蛙一樣,北京市婦產醫院的報告還有帶尾巴的,輻射帶給人的影響很大。

房屋裝修半年進住

最近報紙登載,哈爾濱去年一年發現了1500例白血病,10月份又發現36例。初步判定原因是房屋裝修,而且是甲醇,房屋裝修危險很大,國際上規定,裝修後的房屋一定要半年後才能進住,哈爾濱的報告中多是4-5歲的兒童。房屋裝修對老年人、孕婦、兒童危害最大,各位不要低估輻射。螺旋藻提純後,很純很小一點叫藻複康,它能抗輻射。它經過醫科大學、軍事醫學院鑑定衛生部批准,現在已經出口了,唯一抗輻射的就是藻複康,所以在電腦工作的人,可以滴一點藻複康抹上,也可以吃藻複康。它抗輻射、抗腫瘤、抗病毒、抗氧化,而且提高免疫功能。

電器不要放在臥室內

我再總結一下,輻射對我們影響很大但有幾個方法可以預防:第一喝綠茶,第二吃青菜、蘿蔔,第三吃螺旋藻,第四吃藻複康。藻複康是最好的,根據自己的經濟條件選擇一種,實在不行就吃青菜蘿蔔。輻射是每個人都會接觸到的,國際上提出了警告:千萬不要把電器放在臥室內尤其是微波爐對我們危害最大,它7米內對我們都有輻射。而且各種電器不要同時開著,又有電視、又有冰箱、又有微波爐,你就在旁邊做菜,得了癌症很冤枉啊。

有氧運動傍晚最好

有一個很有原則的經驗,千萬不要早上鍛鍊,建議大家傍晚鍛鍊。國際上規定了,飯後45分鐘再運動。而且老年人的運動散步就可以了,20分鐘。要想減肥不用這方法,飯前半小時一小時吃2粒到4粒螺旋藻,然後食慾就減退了,而且營養不缺。

有氧運動、傍晚最好

歐洲人減肥全用螺旋藻,國內的少吃多拉不是辦法。第二是早上起床的時間,國際上規定六點,供你參考。開窗時間國際上規定九點至十一點,下午二點至四點。為什麼?因為九點以後污染空氣下沉了,污染物質減少了,沒有反流現象。各位注意,早上起來開窗戶,不要在那裡大喘氣,因為致癌物質、反流物質都跑到你肺裡了,容易得廢癌症。

太陽出林中散步最好

早起早睡身體好,不能一概而論。你夜裡在家吸了一肚子二氧化碳,呼吸道裡的毒素有一百多種,又跑到小樹林裡,早上又全是二氧化碳。早上鍛鍊,基礎血壓高,基礎體溫高,腎上腺素比傍晚高四倍,有心臟病的人很容易出問題。樹林必須到太陽出來,日光跟葉綠素起反應才能產生氧氣。樹林裡全是二氧化碳的時候,容易中毒,容易得癌症。

老人緩身起,身體才好

黃帝內經裡說『沒太陽不鍛鍊』我建議大家夏天早睡早起,冬天不要早上出去鍛鍊,而改為晚上鍛鍊。也不是說什麼樣的人都早睡早起身體好,歲數大的人不要猛起。有的人騰的就起來,一下子心肌梗塞死了。國際上是這麼說的,70歲以上的人,慢慢起,先動動胳膊動動腿,再按摩心臟,坐一兩分鐘再起來,這樣沒一個得心臟病,所以不同年齡、不同季節要不同對待。

午睡一小時最洽當

下面提到午睡問題,國際上規定了,午睡不午睡不用爭論了。過去日本人不主張午睡,但我們主張若頭一天晚上沒有睡好、就應該午睡。午睡時間是午飯後半小時,而且最好睡一個小時,睡的太長對身體沒有好處。不要蓋大被子,晚上什麼時間睡覺?我們從來不提倡早睡早起。早睡早起的概念要清楚,如果七點就睡,十二點就起來瞎折騰,那沒有用。

十二點至三點深睡眠

我們主張10點到1030睡覺,因為國際會議上定的,一小時到一個半小時進入深睡眠是最科學的,這就是12點到3點這3小時雷打不動,什麼也別幹,這三小時是深睡眠。如果這三小時睡好了,第二天起來一定精神煥發。如果你4點以後睡覺,那是淺睡眠。會睡和不會睡不一樣,我們主張12點至凌晨3點雷打不動,而且睡前洗個熱水澡,水溫40~50度,這樣會使睡眠質量高。妳們打牌我不反對,但反對12點至凌晨3點打牌。深圳夜裡打牌打死4個年輕人,報紙已經報導了。

生氣最容易得腫瘤

  心理狀態

保健的第三個里程碑是心理狀態問題,如果心理狀態不好,那你白吃白鍛練了,這是很重要的。氣質和血液,你要是一生氣血流得太慢,得腫瘤還不知道什麼原因。生氣容易得腫瘤,全世界都知道。史丹福大學做了個很有名的實驗,拿鼻管擱在鼻子上讓你喘氣,然後再拿鼻管放在雪地裡十分鐘。如果冰雪不改變顏色,說明你心平氣和;如果冰雪變白了,說明你很內疚;如果冰雪變紫了,說明你很生氣。把那紫色的冰雪抽出1~2毫升給小老鼠打上,1~2分重後小老鼠就死了,而且紫色冰雪的成分都研究出來了。所以生氣容易得腫瘤,這是個很嚴重的問題。

能忍一時風平浪靜

『誰在人前不講人,誰在背後無人講』。我勸你們,誰讓你生氣,你別生氣。如果你憋不住,我告訴大家,你看一下錶,別超過五分鐘,超過五分鐘要壞事,血變紫了。這個實驗已經得了諾貝爾獎了,人家心理學會提出了5個避免生氣的方法:一是躲避;一是轉移,人家罵你,你再去罵別人不叫釋放,是找知心朋友談談,釋放出來,要不然擱在心理要得病的;四是昇華,就是人家越說你,你越好好幹;五是控制,這是最主要的一個方法,就是你怎麼罵我不怕,這一點很重要。我們鄧小平同志做得最好,三起三落永不要求平反。非洲一位總統問鄧先生有什麼好經驗,他就說一句話:『忍耐』,忍一時風平浪靜,退一步海闊天空。忍耐不是目的,是策略。

笑口常開健康常在

但一般人做不到,剛說一句就暴跳如雷,小不忍則亂大謀呀。歐洲有個博學經典:難能之理宜停,難處之人宜厚,難處之事宜緩,難成之功宜智。四句中第一句的意思是,很難的道理先不要講。哲理很深,很有用。三國演義理諸葛亮三氣周瑜,硬把周瑜氣死了。你說怪周瑜還是怪諸葛亮?結論是怪周瑜,他器量太小,生氣對人危害很大。

現在國際上有個最新說法,所有動物都沒有笑的功能,只有人類有這個功能,但人類還不好好利用它。有人說猴子會笑、大象會笑,你們見過嗎?但真見到會哭的,宰牛時牛會流眼淚。古代說:笑一笑,十年少。不是指年齡,是指心態。笑口常開,健康常在。

患偏頭痛多笑會好

笑的作用非常大,我們每個人都有這本能,為什麼不笑呢?我們東方民族很嚴肅,而且跟級別有關係,科長、處長還會笑,一到局長就不會笑了,跟外賓打交道繃著個臉。現在中央領導都改變了,你看江先生笑得多好。美國成立了微笑俱樂部,笑成了健康的標誌。哈哈一笑;皺紋沒了。笑使很多病都不得,第一不得偏頭痛;第二不得後背痛;因為笑的時候微循環旺盛,通則不痛,不通則痛。得了偏頭痛別著急,哈哈一笑就好了,不信你可以實驗。而且性功能不減弱升值功能不減弱。你看人家羅馬尼亞老太太92歲還生胖娃娃,人家天天笑啊。我們現在30多歲就不生孩子了,天天繃著個臉當然不能生了。還有,經常笑對呼吸道、消化道特別好。可以做實驗,你摸著肚子開始笑,每天大笑三次,肚子咕嚕三次,不便秘,不得胃腸道癌症。

笑是一個健康標誌

你鍛練上肢,鍛練下肢,什麼時候鍛練腸胃呀?沒機會,只有笑才能鍛練腸胃。笑在國際上已經成為一個健康的標準,我調查多次了,笑的第二個諾貝爾獎已經發佈了。笑促使腦下垂體,產生腦內胚,它是天然麻醉劑。你要是得了關節炎別著急,沖著關節哈哈一笑,一會兒就不痛了。笑有那麼多好處,我們為什麼不笑呢?

最近北京市普查完了,人的壽命你知道是老頭長壽還是老太太長?我告訴大家,老太太比老頭長,平均比老頭多活六年半。偶爾碰上一個老頭,我問,你怎麼一個人鍛練呀?他說我配不上對呀,老太太都一塊兒練,一堆一堆地在街頭鍛練。很多老太太最大優點就是從年輕時就喜歡笑,到老了還笑。我每天講課時都注意到了,笑的都是女同胞,男同胞還是不笑。都差了六年半了,你什麼時候笑呀?所以現在每個人都快點笑吧。

平衡飲食有氧運動

今天來的人,你們笑幾下可以多活幾年。有的人怎麼說也不笑,階段越高月不笑,我有時麼辦法呢?不但不笑,還有個邏輯:『男兒有淚不輕彈』。正常人的眼淚是鹹的,糖尿病人的眼淚是甜的,悲傷的眼淚是苦的,裡面有月太、荷爾蒙。長時間不『彈』出來會得腫瘤、癌症的。就是不得腫瘤也會得潰瘍病、慢性結腸炎的。所以,各位如果悲傷,眼淚必須『彈』出來,留著沒有任何好處。

國際會議上已經給我們提出警告了,讓我們喝綠茶,吃大豆,睡好覺,常運動,不要忘記常歡笑。希望每個人都要注意平衡飲食、有氧運動,而且注意你的心理狀態,該哭就哭,該笑就笑。我相信我們一定能越過73歲,闖過84歲,90100歲一定會健在。(完)

飲食方面:

六種保健飲品:綠茶、紅葡萄(酒)、豆漿、酸奶、骨頭湯、蘑菇湯。

多種保健食品:老玉米、蕎麥、薯類、燕麥、小米粥、大豆、胡蘿蔔、南瓜、苦瓜、蕃茄、大蒜、黑木耳、花粉。小魚小蝦、螺旋藻。

作息方面:

早上不適宜激烈運動、身體要好就吃七分飽、房屋裝修半年後再住、電器不要放在臥室內、有氧運動傍晚最好、在林中散步有陽光最好、老人緩身起床身體才好、午睡一小時最洽當、晚上12點到3點是深睡眠時機。

生氣最容易得腫瘤、能忍一時風平浪靜、笑口常開健康常常在。

 

附錄一:各種蔬果的食用療效

蕃茄

能分解脂肪,幫助消化,預防膽固醇升高,防止血管硬化。

玉米

可預防心臟病、高血壓、腎臟等疾病,並可促進血液循環,降低膽固醇。

四季豆

可防止腳部浮腫、幫助排泄,並且有補血的功效。

毛豆

多吃毛豆可以有效改善食慾不振與全身倦怠。

美國芹菜

具有防止牙齦出血、便血、血壓升高的功效。常吃美國芹菜還可以治療腸出血。

黃秋葵

具有幫助消化與整腸效果,因為對改善下痢與便秘都很有效。

木耳

具有清肝明目、防止動脈硬化的功效,若雙眼佈滿血絲、口肝舌燥時,不妨多吃木耳。

綠豆芽

具有清熱、潤腸、利尿的功效。富含維他命C,常吃可預防黑斑、雀斑,並可美化肌膚。

茄子

具有清熱解毒的作用,亦可促進體內的血液循環,身體經常出現瘀紫的人不妨多吃。

具有鎮靜的功效,並有解毒作用。蔥白的部分具有去痰、發汗、散熱等功效,尤其對感冒引起的頭痛、鼻血有效。

蓮藕

生吃蓮藕可解熱、潤肺、促進血行、消除宿醉。煮過的蓮藕可消除噁心、下痢、胃痛等症。

可以消除疲勞、促進血液循環,對脾胃虛弱、浮腫也有效。此外,對魚鮮類具有強烈殺菌力。

具有開胃、止吐、去痰、解毒的功效。不過,因具刺激性,故胃腸虛弱者不宜多吃。

紫蘇

紫蘇又有青色與紫色之分,不過,以紫色的效力較強。具有鎮靜的功效,對減輕蕁麻疹也有效。

綠豆

具有解毒、利尿等功能,並可消暑、解渴。對於糖尿病的口渴症狀也有效。

紅豆

有利尿、解毒的功效,並可消除浮腫、淨血。紅豆的外皮具有通便功效。

小黃瓜

可以生津解渴、利尿、淨血、消除體內的老化廢物,小黃瓜磨成泥可治曬傷。

韭菜

具有袪痰、消種的功效。內臟受傷時,雖未感疼痛,為防以後有所變化,宜常吃韭菜,以預防腫瘀。

洋菇

熱量低,性溫和,具有降低膽固醇與血壓之功效。經常應酬或血壓過高者宜多吃。

空心菜

空心菜可降低血壓,故可治療高血壓引起的頭痛。並可消除腸胃熱,對於血尿、血便具止血作用。

芹菜

消除胃腸黏膩,使大便通暢,可預防貧血與骨質疏鬆症。

芥菜

可消除炎夏所引起的乾燥症狀;具有清肝發汗的功效,故可治療暑熱病。

黃豆

具清熱解毒的作用,並可改善腳氣病、全身倦怠、食慾不振等症狀。

結球萵苣

可促進血液循環、增進新陳代謝、加強肺部功能與神經系統。

芋頭

常吃芋頭可有效消除淋巴腺結核(俗稱瘰痢),還有健胃整腸、治腹瀉的功效。

花椰菜

具有清熱、利尿之效。經常火氣大或便秘者宜常吃花椰菜。

菜豆

可幫助胃腸蠕動,增進消化能力,可有效改善便秘症狀。

胡蘿蔔

可促使消化系統恢復正常,並有清胃整腸的功能。

茭白筍

可去除體內煩熱,促進新陳代謝,並且還具有解毒等功效。

蒟蒻

可消除腸內穢物,並可快速產生飽食感,適宜糖尿病,膽固醇過高或肥胖者食用。

芥藍菜

常吃可有效美化肌膚。又因可幫助消化,去除油膩,想減肥的人不妨多吃。

苦瓜

具有消涼退火、提神醒腦、治療眼睛紅痛的功效。火氣大、便秘的人宜多吃。

九層塔

可治毒疔、風濕症、跌打損傷。此外,並有消炎止痛的功效。

黃豆芽

具有清肺毒、除痰火之功效。並可改善口乾舌燥、尿液混濁、大便不暢等火氣大的症狀。

香菇

常吃香菇可預防糖尿病、心臟病、腎臟病、高血壓等疾病,並可去除過多的膽固醇。

高麗菜

具有健腦的功效,所以對老人健忘症特別有效,並可預防老化。此外尚具有健胃、補腎等功效。

蘆筍

常吃可預防腦出血、消除疲勞、改善高血壓、強健血管。

青江菜

清除體內的熱氣,並可改善口乾舌燥、牙齦腫脹。此外,多吃青江菜還可滋潤皮膚。

甘藷菜

常吃可以促進血液循環與新陳代謝,使皮膚光滑柔嫩。產婦吃後可增加乳汁分泌。

蘿蔔

具有解毒等功效,可清除肺熱與胃熱,但是,身體屬於「寒底子」的人不宜多吃。

牛蒡

本身所含的「菊糖」屬於消化性碳水化合物,對健身與減肥都有效,尤其適合糖尿病者使用。

金針菜

可治孩童因燥熱引起的流鼻血,並可清肺熱、消緩肝火旺盛的功效。

豌豆仁

可以有效改善腹漲、雙腳浮腫、排尿不順等症狀產婦乳汁分泌不順時 ,宜常吃豌豆仁。

豆腐

豆腐性涼,所以夏天時宜多吃,飲酒過量時,吃豆腐可以去酒毒。此外,對眼睛充血也有效。

南瓜

對消化系統有補養之效,並可促進食慾、解毒、利尿。

馬鈴薯

多吃馬鈴薯可防止口腔炎、壞血病,並可治療胃潰瘍、十二指腸潰瘍。

西洋菜

西洋菜除了可促進食慾,並可以有效預防食物中毒。生飲西洋菜汁可解肺毒、降血壓。

綠竹筍

富含纖維,可幫助胃腸蠕動,除去胃腸穢物,並可改善便秘。

扁蒲

對於肺炎、腸炎、糖尿病與膽汁分泌系統有障礙的具有很好的療效。

青花菜

富含抗潰瘍因子,所以可以有效改善十二指腸潰瘍與胃潰瘍。

莧菜

具清熱解毒的功效,所以在炎夏季節感到口乾舌燥、食慾不振時,宜多吃莧菜。

甜椒

甜椒具有補血、促進血液循環的功效,常吃可以使頭髮烏黑亮麗。常飲生汁對糖尿病、心臟病也有益。

冬瓜

具有消暑、消腫、利尿、降火氣的功效。此外治療老年人咳嗽也很有效。

洋蔥

洋蔥所含的油脂具殺菌效果,可促進消化液分泌,幫助消化。

絲瓜

肺胃積熱引起濃痰時,多吃絲瓜即可改善。絲瓜水(切開主莖流出的汁液)具解毒、解熱之功效。

蠶豆

可促進小便通暢,另外還具有健脾、利尿、止瀉的功效。

海帶

可降低血壓、改善血脂、使秀法光澤亮麗。之外對甲狀腺腫大、水腫亦有療效。

黃豆

具有益氣、補腸胃、解熱、消除浮腫與解毒的功效。尤其是患心悸、容易疲勞、身體虛弱者非常適合食用。

我怎麼會活到100

陳立夫自製治心肌梗塞之藥方

一、用大白菜(降血壓通血管)半顆,切成小塊用打果汁機打爛。

二、加黑木耳(美國認為可使血小板不凝結)浸水後,一碗飯之量,加入到果汁機打爛。

三、加冬菇(日本一個研究所認為冬菇是血管之清道夫)浸水後去蒂,加入果汁機打爛。

四、加山渣粉(我國認為可平血壓通血管)二兩及水若干於打果機,打爛成薄漿。

五、加丹蔘粉(大陸治心肌梗塞之有效藥)二兩及水若干於打果機,打爛成薄漿。

六、加黃耆粉(大陸治心肌梗塞之有效藥)二兩及水若干於打果機,打爛成薄漿。

七、 將此薄漿,倒在鍋中煮滾後,置入冰箱,分五六天,與燕窩同於早飯前煮食之。

按此為立夫自己發明,使心臟不致阻塞,現已服了六年之久,又有有人服之有效,認為確有效果。

材料:

糙米、黑糯米、小米、小麥、蕎麥、芡實、燕麥、蓮子、麥片漢紅薏仁等份量混合而成。以上十種可同時煮熟。

作法一:

晚上時,將十榖米一杯用水洗淨,加水七杯,放入悶燒鍋內中燒開再煮十五分鐘,放入外鍋中加蓋,翌日早晨上班前即可食用。可多煮一點,供三四天食用。

作法二:

晚上時,將十榖米三背泡水四小時,放入電鍋中,再加水五杯煮成乾飯,待冷卻後,放入冰箱。翌日早晨上班前,取酌量加水四杯煮成稀飯。

備註:

小孩子若因口感不喜歡吃時,可加入幾粒龍眼乾或葡萄乾。若不加糖進食時,可加茶葉蛋一個,風味絕佳,記憶超強,功課一級棒。

1、一天喝的量約1/4杯(約五十毫升),年紀大的人一次約二十毫升左右。

2、一天喝1~2次。

3、浸過的洋蔥片也一起食用更好。

4、不喝酒的人,可用兩倍左右的開水稀釋後飲用或每次倒入電鍋內煮約4~5分鐘蒸發酒精後再飲用。

 

  怎麼吃最健康 - 養生長壽的食法

【大紀元1230日訊】講究健康養生,不是說要求山珍海味,也不是非得要進食什麼十全大補美食的那些東西,而是注意平衡飲食的種類及食量,飲、食這二大類的食物都必須均衡的攝取。多吃穀類、豆類、菜類,多吃素食是一帖良藥,讓你遠離現代慢性病及癌症。暴食或是偏食都是健康養生的大忌,長期不當的飲食生活是疾病的最大禍首。

飲食要低脂肪、高纖維、多吃蔬菜水果,生食為主,較容易吸收酵素。少吃糖和鹽。

1). 國際評定上選的菜是胡蘿蔔、南瓜、 苦瓜 、大蒜、 黑木耳、 花粉等等。國際認定的六種保健飲料品依次是﹕綠茶;紅葡萄酒;豆漿;酸奶;骨頭湯和蘑菇湯。

2). 熱粥最好可以讓食物營養精華一次被吸收,配合肉湯菜湯或蔬菜熬煮鹹粥更好。

小米 : 能除濕、健脾、鎮靜、安眠。早上一碗玉米粥,精神煥發,晚上一碗小米粥,呼呼大睡。

3). 海帶芽中含大量的膠質,是抗老化的食物。醋可使海帶芽軟化,用醋涼拌海帶芽湯或加上冰塊變成海帶涼湯,可以凸顯醋的酸味,口感更清爽。海帶芽湯加上蛋花,簡單方便,熱量又低,多吃也不須擔心會發胖。

4). 松子裹上蜂蜜當成甜點,磨碎做粥或是淋醬,有滋補強身功效。把松子當成零食吃,具保護心臟血管,又可以幫助排便,還有健腦和滋潤皮膚的功效。

5). 白菜可以退燒解熱、止咳化痰,豐富的纖維和維生素C,具抗氧化,是的抗癌明星。對於燥熱體質、喉嚨痛的人也很合適。但是,過敏或虛寒體質的人,不適合大量單吃生冷的白菜,如泡菜等,此時可以加點薑絲或是茴香、肉桂一塊燉煮,就可以中和白菜的寒性。吃火鍋時,別忘了儘可能多加點白菜,消解火鍋的燥熱之氣 ; 過敏體質的人可以加薑絲清炒。

6). 大蒜具殺菌和預防疾病的功效,可以降低膽固醇 ;宜避免空腹食用大蒜。搭配水餃、麵食一塊吃,較不容易傷胃。或者利用煮、炒或做泡菜,減少它的辛辣刺激。不過,氣候濕熱的地區多吃大蒜容易長紅疹,還是得適可而止。

7).蕎麥含有強力抗氧化物維生素P,增強血管彈性、防止血液凝結 ;可以加速血液循環,有降血壓、降血脂、降血糖三大功效。助眠的效果很好,清宿便 ; 但治療手腳冰冷效果較差,可以選擇蕎麥和麵涼拌、煮湯皆可。或是將蕎麥加在米飯裡一起煮或是熬粥,兩種吃法都不錯。

8). 蔓菁,又叫蕪菁或大頭菜,蕪菁做粥可以滋補元氣,讓身體放鬆;做醬菜則可減輕孕吐不適,是懷孕婦女安胎的好料理。禦寒之外,也具有很好的抗氧化能力 。蕪菁葉、菠菜和甘藍三種菜都含有豐富的葉黃素及玉米黃素量(對眼睛好的營養素),最好連葉子一起吃,醃漬、煮湯都是不錯的做法。蕪菁也可以營養價值及功效相似的白蘿蔔代用。

9). 胡蘿蔔,可以養眼;不容易感冒;健美又有點抗癌作用。

10). 豆類營養豐富,最好發點芽再吃,營養比較豐富,又好消化。

ON YOUR BIKE

Cycling is a healthy, low-impact form of exercise, and research shows
that cycling from two to four hours per week helps you lose weight,
and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases, bowel cancer,
diabetes and stress.

Research involving 21,000 people in Finland found that people who
cycled for more that 30 minutes a day had a lower risk of developing
diabetes.

WALK TO WORK

Exercise doesn't have to be vigorous, and regular walking can lower
the risk of heart disease and osteoarthritis, improve mood, increase
good cholesterol, reduce blood pressure, and extend lifespan.

Ten days of walking led to a 36 per cent drop in symptoms in depressed
men and women. Walking also increases the production of a hormone that
reduces worry and anxiety.

After 36 weeks of 10,000 steps a day, overweight men and women lost
seven pounds of fat, and reduced their waists by half an inch, say
researchers at Ball State University. Ulster University research shows
that walking twice a week for 45 minutes reduces blood pressure and
prevents weight gain.

EAT MORE FISH

According to more than 10,000 pieces of research, there's not much
that fish and its oils won't either protect you from or treat, from
backache to heart disease and cancer.

A study at Harvard shows that women who eat plenty of sardines, tuna
and salmon during pregnancy may have brighter toddlers, while work at
the Medical University of Vienna found that omega-3 fatty acids from
fish may be an effective treatment for symptoms of autism. A study by
Suleyman Demirel University in Kazakhstan links fish-eating to later
menopause.

BE HAPPIER

Being happy boosts the immune system, lowers the risk of infections,
including flu, reduces blood pressure and extends lifespan.

Research at University College London shows happiness has powerful
effects on blood pressure, heart disease and inflammation. Heart rates
of the most happy were 68.4 beats per minute, compared to 74 for the
least happy. University of Pittsburgh researchers found that the more
optimistic a woman was, the less artery disease she had. Over three
years, the arteries of the optimistic women thickened by only one per
cent, compared to almost seven per cent in the least optimistic. Men
and women classed as positive and happy types were three times less
likely to become infected when exposed to a laboratory flu virus.

GET A HOBBY

Hobbies lower stress levels, ease depression, improve mood and immune
system, and may lower the risk of high blood pressure and heart
disease.

According to research at Maastricht University, men who do not have
hobbies are much more likely to be sick and to be absent from work
more often than men who have hobbies. A study at Pamukkale University
in Turkey found that doctors who did not have a hobby had the highest
rates of depression, while a Mayo Clinic survey of cancer specialists
showed they rated having a hobby as a key "wellness strategy".

MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE WORK

Having a good marriage can extend your life, reduce the risk of
catching a cold, and lower blood pressure and heart disease.

Researchers at Birmingham University have found a direct link between
higher levels of antibodies to flu and being in a happy marriage. They
looked at men and women given the flu vaccine and measured the
antibody response over the next 12 months. The results are showing
that those who had high marital satisfaction had the higher antibody
responses to the flu strain after just four weeks.

A University of Tampere, Finland, study shows that single men are 70
per cent more likely to have a premature end than married men.

EAT DARK CHOCOLATE

Once considered unhealthy, dark chocolate with high levels of cocoa
beans full of antioxidants, is now considered healthy in moderation,
with research showing it can lower the risk of heart disease and
stroke, reduce blood pressure, insulin resistance and bad cholesterol.

Pennsylvania State University research shows it may lower
cardiovascular disease, while Harvard University researchers calculate
that flavonoids in dark chocolate lower the risk of dying from heart
disease by 20 per cent.

AVOID WEEKEND SLEEP-INS

Research at the University of Adelaide shows that staying in bed for
two extra hours on Sunday increases sleepiness and infection risk on
both Monday and Tuesday. It's all because the body clock gets
confused.

GET RICH

Money may not be able to buy good health, but it may lead to
happiness, and less depression.

Research based on lottery winners shows that their mental wellbeing
and happiness was much higher than those who had small wins, who were
in turn happier than losers. The Warwick University study based on men
and women who had medium-sized lottery wins of between �1,000 and
�120,000, shows there was no initial burst of happiness at the moment
of winning, and that it took up to two years to kick in, possibly
because it was spending the money rather than winning that was
important.

GET MORE SUN

While skin cancer is a real problem, with more than 7,000 people
diagnosed with malignant melanoma each year in the UK, there's growing
evidence of the beneficial effects of exposure to the sun for a wide
range of conditions, including breast, lung and colon cancer,
depression, pain, fertility, diabetes, heart disease, high blood
pressure, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, TB and rheumatoid arthritis.

Research at the University of Tasmania shows that higher sun exposure
at the ages of six to 15 - an average of two to three hours per day in
summer - more than halved the risk of getting multiple sclerosis.
"Sunlight can have beneficial effects, and may protect against
autoimmune diseases including type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis,"
say researchers from Sussex University.

LAUGH A LOT

Laughing boosts the immune system, and reduces pain and diabetes
symptoms. It can also help you lose weight. Researchers have worked
out that laughter burns up calories at the rate of 2.31 a minute. An
average day's laughter gets rid of all the calories in a pepperoni
pizza.

A study at Gifu University, Japan, shows that laughter can ease the
symptoms in patients with type 2 diabetes by changing the blood levels
of a number of chemicals. A study at Meharry Medical College in
Nashville shows that mirthful laughter affects the levels of
inflammatory chemicals in the blood of people with rheumatoid
arthritis.

DRINK TEA

Tea, both black and green, has been linked to a wide range of health
benefits, from helping to prevent Alzheimer's, heart disease, stroke
and cancer, and flu, to hair growth and weight loss.

A King's College study says that three or more cups a day reduce the
risk of heart disease, and that there is some evidence that it can
improve mental performance. Research at McGill University in Montreal
points to a protective effect for Alzheimer's. When Seoul University
dermatologists put green tea on human hair cells they found it
stimulated hair growth. An antioxidant called EGCG is thought to be
responsible.

EAT MORE CURRY

Long underrated as a health food, curry is now being linked to a
number of positive effects - largely thanks to the curcumin in
turmeric - including improved insulin levels and protection from heart
disease, Alzheimer's, cognitive decline, stress and depression.
Curries can also help you lose weight. It's thought that meals
containing chillies burn up more calories than other meals.

CHEW GUM

Good for oral health, especially the sugar-free type, but has other
advantages too. Research at Glasgow Caledonian University shows that
people who chew gum eat fewer snacks and 10 per cent fewer calories.
It is also good for face muscles and for high blood pressure and
diabetes.

A study at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, California, suggests it
might be good for bowel functioning. It's thought that chewing gum
stimulates the same nerves as eating, triggering the release of
hormones that activate the gastrointestinal tract. According to a
University of Michigan report, chewing gum may prevent tooth decay.

TAKE UP SINGING

Choral singing increases immunity, reduces depression, improves
cognitive function and mood, and increases feelings of wellbeing,
according to research at the University of Western Ontario. It can
also stop the voice from ageing. Work at Sydney University shows
singing helps people cope with chronic pain better, while a University
of Frankfurt team found choral singing lowers stress levels and boosts
the immune system. A survey of singers by Canterbury Christ Church
University shows they had improved lung function and breathing, and
better mood.Singing also increases blood levels of the "love hormone"
oxytocin, which is released during intimacy.

EAT MORE PASTA

Eat spaghetti and live longer, lower the risk of diabetes, and have a
better sex life. Research from Harvard and Athens universities shows
that men and women who eat carbohydrate-rich food increase their
survival chances by 10 per cent. A study at the University of Kuopio
in Finland found pasta lowers the risk of deteriorating glucose
tolerance and of developing type 2 diabetes.

Use plenty of pesto with pasta. It contains pine nuts, good sources of
arginine, the precursor for nitric oxide, which boosts blood flow and
which has been linked to better sexual performance in men.

HAVE A DRINK

Research suggests that moderate amounts of alcohol, especially red
wine, are healthy. People who had two alcoholic drinks a day were up
to 50 per cent less likely than abstainers to have had a heart attack.

A study at Universit� Victor Segalen in Bordeaux shows that
antioxidants in wine protect older people from cognitive decline. And
researchers in Boston found that even men who had a healthy lifestyle
would benefit from having a regular drink.

BRUSH YOUR TEETH

Taking good care of teeth and gums not only saves painful and
expensive visits to the dentist, it could prevent stroke or heart
attacks. Columbia University research based on around 700 people found
that those with gum disease were more likely to suffer from
atherosclerosis - a narrowing of blood vessels that can lead to heart
disease and stroke. It's thought the bacteria that cause gum disease
trigger a reaction from the immune system, causing inflammation that
results in clogging of the arteries.

DRINK MORE COFFEE

The world's most widely used stimulant can lower the risk of diabetes,
Parkinson's, gallstones, bad teeth, heart disease and stroke, and ease
pain, relax muscles, and improve speed of thought.

Women who drink coffee may be up to a third less likely to have a
heart attack, according to research on 32,000 women monitored for six
years at Harvard University.

Drinking six or more cups a day reduces the risk of diabetes by 54 per
cent for men, and 30 per cent for women.

Two cups a day can lower the risk of colon cancer by 25 per cent, and
halve the risk of gallstones. Trigonelline, a compound that gives
coffee its bitter taste, may prevent dental cavities.

GET A PET

Dogs may be better for their owners' health than cats. Laughter is
linked to good health, and research by psychologists based on logs
kept by pet owners recording every time they laughed, shows that dog
owners have most giggles during the day.

Pet dogs can also lower heart rate and reduce stress, but having a cat
reduces the risk of a child developing eczema and hay fever. A study
at Rakuno Gakuen University in Japan, shows that 30-minute walks with
a dog are 87 per cent more effective for heart health than walks
alone. But beware, owning a dog can make you grumpy. A study at the
University of Tokyo shows that non-owners reckoned people who have
pets are more bad-mannered.
